About makeup

About 2 months ago, I stopped wearing makeup. This is something I had  thought long about doing, but first I wanted to save out my eyebrows. Unfortunately, they grew out very slow so I decided to try it anyway.

The first time I wore makeup I was 16. I used to smear eyeliner under the eyes because I thought it was more gothic than being completely without makeup. Since then I've honestly only used makeup because I have felt pressured, I never liked to wear makeup or been particularly good at doing it nicely. So it has been more a feeling that since I am a woman, I HAVE TO wear makeup.

So in the beginning when I stopped using it, I was afraid that people would think I was unkempt. But then I thought, guys have no makeup, and do I think they all look ugly? No.
Should  it not be okay for women then to also be without makeup. Yeees! :D

I can scratch my eyes whenever I want and don't need to worry about mascara in my whole face if it's raining.

And to be completely honest I don't think I look worse on the picture to the right than to the left.

I see makeup as an art, and I think it's fun to experiment with it on photosessions. But in everyday life, I feel no need to wear it anymore. And it feels really good (and cheap) ;D to have come to this realization.

  1. There is absolutely no need for anyone, woman or man, to use makeup if they do not want to. It's a seriously screwed up system that claims us otherwise. All that matters is making women consume more makeup items and them to accept their roles as consuming, proper, makeup-using women. And why can't men do fancy makeup? Luckily we've gone way ahead on that... This is a subject I'd find so much to talk about.

    1. I agree! I feel so sorry for the persons who uses foundation and rouge and everything because they are ashamed of their faces. I think it's another thing to wear makeup as in a way to express their style (such as punk, goth, etc.) but just having make-up because the world says we are better looking that way is so tragic. :/

Same here, I could have written a much longer post about this. It's really interesting! :)

  2. Jag tycker du ser fin ut utan smink. :)

  4. I prefer the picture of you on the right without makeup! I hardly ever wear makeup unless I happen to be working, and then it's just to add a bit of colour to the cheeks so I don't look dead. At my age, that's not a look you want to embrace any more!

Not buying makeup frees up a lot of money for starting another collection of something or other, which I'd rather spend my hard earned cash on... :D

    1. Haha, I see :'D

Exactly! :D now I can buy lots of candy instead! Makeup is so expensive. I have always bought from H&M brand before..and that brand is not that good.

  5. That's right, nobody should have the power to put pressure on you for as regards your appearance. I'm totally with you on this.
I wear make-up but that's not because I feel obliged to do so; actually, people keep telling me I look better without it... but I don't give a shit, I like my face with make-up on, so screw what they wish I did XD
One should only do what makes them feel good about themselves. And by the way nobody should feel compelled to always look good: looking good is not something we should all aim for. We should try to be better people, good workers, nice friends and whatnot, but beauty shouldn't be our primary goal. And if we want it to be so, that should be our choice!

    1. Very true words :) what unusual "friends" you have? xD I think people hear a lot more "you should cover that pimple with something" rather than "you should wear less makeup!"

Yes, it's insane how much we humans care about what other people think about our look!

    2. Not just my friends, but also my parents and my boyfriend ''XD if I have a pimple it's more likely for my mom to tell me to eat more healthy food, but she won't tell me to put on my foundation. Maybe they're all fans of a natural look. Actually, my female friends do like to wear make-up but just for the fun of playing with colours :D so yeah, I guess I'm kind of lucky.

    3. I see :D

Yes, I can totally understand using makeup to express themself. :D
What I never will understand though are people who APPLY a "natural looking" makeup. xD It's so obvious that it is makeup, but it's still called natural? :'D

    4. Yeah. They may as well call it "few make-up" XD 'cause that's what it is.
Like, for me to get a "natural make-up" it takes: hydrating cream, BB cream, luminizer, concealer, mascara, bronzer and blush. Seven products. Not exactly what I'd call "natural" :D!
