Beauty products, yay!

Today I was on the awaited visit to Endometriosiscentrum in Uppsala. It feels good to finally have been "analyzed" by a real endometrios doctor! I've got a new kind of painkillers and even a new contraceptive pill. And I hope that I will get a MRI soon.

Cat that wan'ts to leave.

I took the opportunity to go into Lush and submit the empty cans to them because you get a facialcreme in return, I thought I would get a small sample but I got a full box :D
Awesome! I also bought my favourite schampoo, only thing that works for my for dandruff, Trichomania.

On my way home I collected my package from Yves Rocher, I have not ordered from there in years but I realized that they have some organic stuff too so because they had a huge sale I've tried some products that does not contain parabens or silicones. The vanilla perfume smells like candy <3

Last week of vacation

On monday I start working again! The vacation was obviously too short ;)

Earlier this week I was with my sister and looked at apartments. She has been accepted to an education here so she will move, I'm insanely happy to finally be living in the same town again, it feels like a dream so I'm afraid I'll wake up and she's not moving here!

This wednesday, I was at the beach all day, strangely enough! Andrea and I have planned a beach photosession for so long.

It was a good day with lots of laughter. The pictures will come later. :) (I also managed to avoid sunburn, puh)

Tomorrow me and my husband are going to the cinema to see How to train Your Dragon 2, finally!

I would also like to recommend three favorites that I tried recently!
Lately I've really been lucky with my Lush orders! Everything has been so good!
There's no limit to how much I love that store.

A massage oil in solid form, it smells wonderful like oranges. Got information that it can be used as a hair mask as well now I have tried it and it was fantastic! I'm clearly addicted to hairconditioners, love how my hair feels afterwards!

A conditioner that smells like rosemary and lemon and makes your hair so so soft! This morning I awoke to the wonderful smell because Mattias washed his hair yesterday and I just lay there enjoying it, haha!

I think it was 2 years ago now since I stopped using deodorant. Sometimes I use my home-made with coconut oil,  however, it may be a bit too sweaty now in the summer without deodorant so I bought this which is really a kind of talc for the body, but it also works excellently as a deodorant. it also works great as dryschampoo, I could not be happier with this product. ^.^

Lush review

This is my latest Lush haul :D

I bought a package with products specially made for dry and flaky scalps.
Now I have been using it for 2-3 weeks.

Happy Happy Joy is a balm with almond milk, jojoba and rose! It really smells like a rose, so fresh! Expecially the day after I have washed my hair. My hair also feels soft. Unfortunately, it is very very expensive for a tiny bottle.

Superbalm is a cream that you rub into your scalp and then wash out. It feels like it has actually helped with the flakes and dryness, I have not as many and not so often these white dots lying everywhere in my hair ant longer. Smells very strong! If it continues to help me, I will stick to this product despite the high price.

Soak and float shampoo bar made from tar is really something that helps with flaky scalp! My head doesn't itch that much, it might be the combination of tar and superbalm though. I'm happy either way :'D

And the little jar containing the skincream Dream Cream, it was supergood :D Lush is like experts on bodylotions.

Another Lush review!

A review from the latest Lush-shopping :D

Rehab is a schampoo made for really damaged hair. I have been using the shampoo for about a month now and the bottle looks almost untouched, which is good considering the price.
I notice some difference in my hair as well, feels less dry,  but I don't know if it is due to Rehab or Retread.
The downside is that the past 2 weeks, my dandruff eczema has increased in strength again, so I think I may have to go back to a shampoo with tar in again.

Retread is a is a conditioner / hair mask, also for dry and damaged hair. I've tried it both as a conditioner as a hair mask and then I had it in dry hair for an hour. My hair was so soft <3 Can definitely imagine myself buying this product again, the price was high though so I rather use it occasionally than as a ordinary conditioner.

Karma kream is a bodylotion I got a little sample of, it has a really strong smell which is very common with Lush-products :P first i didn't like it but after some time now I have grown to like it very much. And besides that it is simply the best lotion I have ever tried. Since my hands get really dry at my job, I'm in need of something that helps and this one really does. Just in one night my hands go from that scratched dry feeling  soft. So nice <3

Lush review!

Some may wonder if I'm still using No-Poo products, it's been a while since I updated.
I still am, I found a shampoo made of tar a few months ago that has helped my dry scalp a lot :) But I wanted to try some stuff from lush, I love the company, their products are the all-natural and they do not test on animals <3

This is face-scrub made of sea salt, grapefruit, lime and sea weed. I'm very lazy of taking care of my skin, so it was needed. The face feels very clean afterwards! Felt a little dry though so I think I will mostly use it on my nose and not on cheeks.

This is a hair mask based on seaweed and mud. I read some reviews about it where people said it helps with a dry scalp so I wanted to give it a try. It was very good, made the hair smooth and silky. BUT THE SMELL xD Mattias did not approve, haha!

This is the most amazing smelling thing I ever had. It smells like candy! Even on the body ^^

This is schampoobar with rosemary, nettles, tea tree and peppermint. The name for it is Squeaky green.
It was very easy to wash the hair with because it was so foamy! Didn't smell much either. I hope it's as good for my scalp as my tar-schampoo. :) It also said on the wrapping that the bar will last between 60-80 washes. The bar contains perfume as second ingrediense which is a huge minus for me, so I won't use it every hairwash.

No Poo: Hair and faceupdate

Long time no hairupdate. So this will be a loooong one.

In the beginning of May I was to the doctor to get some help with my flaky and itching scalp, because the No Poo ways I tried didn't work out, I thought it was worth a try asking a real doctor, so I started using what the doctor gave me, which was this:

2 weeks after I started using these two I went on a larp. I used the green makeup all over my face there and already on the second day of larp my forehead was covered with pimples! I thought it was acne because of the makeup of course and started using No Poo tricks to get rid of pimples. (Honey, bakingsoda and aspirinmask) The pimples did not disappear, it just got worse.
Last Sunday, it had been like this for a month and I had also started to get pimples on my shoulders and the rest of my face:

I decided to ignore the No Poo and go to the pharmacy and ask for advice instead. The staff at the pharmacy said that this is not pimples, it's eczema!! So me and darling wondered all night what it could be, was I allergic to something and realized then that this problem started shortly after I begun using the creams for my scalp!
I read the package leaflet and there it was indeed: common side effects: acne and dermatitis on the body.

So I stopped directly using the products and instead of drying out the skin I applied jojoba oil every night and already a few days later, the eczema have disappeared very much!

I'd rather continue with the no poo now than all the yucky stuff with sideeffects so today I tried for the first time to wash my hair with birchleafes, it will apparently be awesome for psoriasis on the scalp!
So goodbye to the weird shampoo the doctor prescribed that only have dried out my hair the past two months, and welcome to my new shampoo made of birchleafes!

I'm hoping for good results on this ^^
Update will come after a few weeks.

How to make the shampoo:

about 3 cups - 5 cups cold water (cold water extract the cleansing saponins better than hot)
2 handfuls birch leaves

Add the birch leaves in a large jar with a lid.

Pour the cold water over the leaves and let it stand for about half an hour. Put on the lid and shake until it starts foaming.

Strain the leaves in a colander and use the water.

No Poo: Hairupdate

I'm trying to update once every month :)

Yesterday I took the decision to stop using the Aleppo-soap for a while because my scalp is very dry again. I have been asking a lot of Noo Poo experts and have found out that it can be an infection called Malasezzia which means I have been treating it wrong. Malasezzia should not be fed with oils, it just get worse then.

I have booked an appointment with a doctor in two weeks because I really want to know what this is now, so I can treat it right. It's not fun to constantly walk around with white flakes in my hair.
So until then I will wash my hair with eggs and honey instead.
Hopefully I can treat it in a No Poo way because I never want to go back to schampo again, my hair is soft and thick nowadays thanks to No Poo.

Also, 3 weeks ago I tried Rasul mud because many people like that as schampoo. I didn't. xD

My hair was completely electric by the mud, unable to handle for a whole week!

My boyfriend's hair was not at all electric from it so it seems to depend on what hair type you have.

No Poo: Hair update

Whoppidoo, I realized I haven't updated about this in a whole month!
Firstly, I wanna say that I ignored my own plan to start washing my hair with honey because I found a soap called Aleppo.

It's a soap made in Syria consisting solely of olive oil and black seed oil, all I heard from those who have tried it say it's pure magic, so I gave it a try.
Yes it is magical.
My scalp is hereby, after 3 weeks washing with this soap not flaky anymore! I wash my hair once a week and my hair is never even greasy.
After every hairwash I rinse it with cold rosemary water (I boil some rosemary in water and let it cool down) which makes my hair smell like pineneedles and I loooove it! :D

Best decision ever to start with the Aleppo soap.
It was a bit tricky at first to get it to foam, but I rub it against my scalp, splashing some water with the shower and then it's pretty easy.

I even have the feeling that my hair grows faster but it can also be my imagination because I want it so much xD

No Poo: Shaving

Even though I have all this natural things going on, shaving is still something I'm far too brainwashed to quit doing. Which is sort of sad when I think about it.

A product I've used for two years, I just recently realized that it is No poo approved. Wohoo!
It is a razor from EFI.se named Intuition Naturals. In contact with water foam sips out from the razor. The foam only contains of aloe vera and vitamin E.

The handle is also made of 100% recycled material.
The website is in Swedish so this may not be something for international readers. But I thought I share anyway. :)

http://www.efi.se/produkter/intuition/

Sadly, this entry was not sponsored by them. Bot Oh do I wish that because the razors are not so cheap. xD

No Poo: Boar Bristle Brush

This is the brush I have used since I got the tip from another "No Poo-er"
This is a boar bristle brush and it's much healthier for the hair to use than a plastic one.

I've always hated to brush my hair, but the boar bristles makes it much smoother, it doesn't pull the hair like a plastic brush does.

I bought mine at http://www.ahlens.se that is a swedish store though, but I would think that it's easy to find a brush like this on several places. :)

No Poo: Summerplans

Right now I can barely wait until the spring and summer are here!
Because a few days ago I read about ways to wash the hair with what nature offers!

On option is to boil some birchleaves,

or daisies

or nettles

in water and strain off the leaves and then wash your hair with the water!
I'm so excited to try this!
If it works well, I'll pick lots and lots of them and dry so I can continue in the winter

Imagine how good and fresh the hair will smell. :D

No Poo: Aspirin facemask

This is one of the most loved facetreatments in the No Poo community. So I was totally eager to try it!
It cleans the pores and also works as peeling if you rub a little.

First you need some aspirin.
(N.B You can't use another painkiller, it's a certain acid in aspirin that is needed)

Grind/crush 4 pilla and mix them with a click honey and just a tiny dash of water.

Put it on your face where you think you pores needs cleaning and wait 15 minutes before you wash it off.

It's like my face has been reborn, it's that good! :'D

A life update

Today I went to the library to stock up with somenew books. So I took some pictures before I went.

As you can see, the green color has been washed out a lot already. My hair will probably be brown pretty soon, I hope :D I'm actually really curious of how own haircolor looks like nowadays.

I was also to the pharmacy and asked for help with my dry scalp.
(Ms. Misantropia gave me the push I actually needed in a comment yesterday)
I'm getting so tired of it because it's itchy and flacy, and it have been that since august now. It's really bothering me and since I only wear black clothes  the white "snowflakes" falling from my head are not a pretty accessory.

They recommended this gel. I looked at the ingredients and even if there is one there that is not No Poo approved, it's good enough for me if I can get rid of this. So I will keep washing my hair with honey as planned. :)

No Poo: Other options for hairwash

My poor scalp is still flaky. Gaaah!
So I did an oil conditioner in my hair yesterday. I heated up some olive oil and smeared it on my scalp and then waited  2 hours.

I will tell you this. Oil is not so easy to wash out with eggs, so this is something I don't recommend. My hair still looks like an oily blob after two hairwashes. xD

But that's not what I was going to talk about.
I am going to try two other variants of No Poo hair washing. I read that eggs can infact dry out the scalp in some cases and mine is already sooo dry so the next times I wash I will try these instead:

1. Honey Wash. You boil a tablespoon of honey with water, wait until it cools down and rub it in the hair as usual. This will apparently be the best option for a dry scalp! Yay!

2. Ryeflour wash. 5 tablespoons ryeflour mixed with medium hot water.
Shake the water and ryeflour thoroughly in a jar with a lid.
Strain the flour before massaging the fluid into dry hair and then rinse out.
This is known to make the hair flowy and nice so I really want to try! :D

As usual, I will be back with results!

Todays superpretty oily hair oh yeeeah!

No poo: My Face

I (sort of) stopped getting pimples on my face when I was about 20. Since then I've had a lot of problems with dry skin and have tried countless creams. When I went No Poo with my hair I wanted to do that with my face as well.

So I'm going to tell a little about what I use nowadays.

Every night before I go to sleep I rub the whole face with almond oil.

I've done it for 2 weeks now and it is wonderful! Cheeks feels soft and is not dry anymore. The only place that still is dry is around the eyebrows, but it probably has to do with that I shave that area.

Sometimes I want to have a cleansing scrub so then I use 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a little baking soda and rub my face with it and then rinse off with water.

I have also tried to use honey but I prefer almond oil. The honey is difficult to wash away.

Something I want to try is to make a facemask of aspirin! I have heard many good things about it so it will be the next thing. :D

No Poo: 2 week review

Now I have washed my hair with eggs, apple cider vinegar and baking soda for two weeks. :)
I will therefore write a little update on how it goes.

My hair feels less dry after washing it, which is nice. My dry scalp problem is still here though, but hopefully it will go away.

I have also started to rinse my hair with something sour after every hair wash. Example 5 cups water mixed with a half a lemon. This will apparently help the hairs PH balance.
I have also noticed that my hair is too long / thick for only one egg so I use two every wash.

My hair does not feel dirtier than usual (I wash as before two days per week) so I will definitely continue with this and come back with further results. :)

No Poo: What about dry-schampoo?

One of my biggest problems when I started with this No poo again was that I can't use dryschampoo!
I was a little bit addicted to it before. :'D

But I found a tip about using cocoapowder and a little potato flour instead!
And it works just fine! I tried it yesterday. Extra plus that the hair smells like chocolate. xD

Just be sure to really pull it in the hairlengths and not rub the scalp, because then it looks like you have poop there instead, haha.

No Poo: Make your own deodorant

This is something I can already write a review about, because it's actually four months since I last used deodorant. Yahoo, it's true. :D

Deodorant people buy in stores probably contains substances that are not so very healthy for the body.
So I decided to start making my own deodorant from a No Poo recipe!

I melt 1 cup coconut oil and mix in 3 teaspoons of cornmeal. Then I let it solidify in a jar a few hours before use.

This jar lasts for more than 2 months

Cheap and it smells actually really good!

My sister said though that when she tried, she got stains in the armpits on her clothes, but I haven't. O.o

No poo method

Third time's a charm :D
I have twice before tried the No poo method for the hair. But both times I failed. The first time, I was not so well-read about it and the second time I was just too lazy to get all the ingredients I guess, haha.

For those of you who do not know what the No poo is you can read this in Swedish here and in English here.
Brief description though: stop using products such as shampoo because there are ingredients that actually destroys the hair more than helping it. Plus it's good for the environment!

I have since a few months back had problems with very dry scalp and no brand of schampoo seems to help, so I hope that this method will help me better!

I made a separate label for this on my blog where I'm going to write tips, reviews, and "recipes" that I use.

So today I washed my hair with 1 egg, 1 teaspoon bakingsoda and 2 tablespoons apple vinegar.
It will take a few weeks though before I have the result of this new schampoo method. :)
