No poo: My Face
I (sort of) stopped getting pimples on my face when I was about 20. Since then I've had a lot of problems with dry skin and have tried countless creams. When I went No Poo with my hair I wanted to do that with my face as well.
So I'm going to tell a little about what I use nowadays.
Every night before I go to sleep I rub the whole face with almond oil.
I've done it for 2 weeks now and it is wonderful! Cheeks feels soft and is not dry anymore. The only place that still is dry is around the eyebrows, but it probably has to do with that I shave that area.
Sometimes I want to have a cleansing scrub so then I use 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a little baking soda and rub my face with it and then rinse off with water.
I have also tried to use honey but I prefer almond oil. The honey is difficult to wash away.
Something I want to try is to make a facemask of aspirin! I have heard many good things about it so it will be the next thing. :D

DeleteReally, this whole No Poo thing is interesting. Just one thing stops me from trying; after all I dye my hair quite often, isn't it kind of 'Yes Poo'? :D And I'm also a bit insecure about how my habit of heavy makeup would go along with naturally good face cleansing mixes. Would you recommend this thing for a person who nonetheless has these not so clean chemicals in use anyway? I'd really like to hear your opinion on that, because I would be eager to try. :>
ReplyDeleteAnd one more thing, I dropped an award for you, check it out!
Hmm.. I think that it's most common that people who does the "no Poo" are dyeing the hair with a colour called henna, but I do know of people who use ordinary stuff.
DeleteI have now stopped colouring my hair and will try to get my real colour back but after that I'm planning to do a dipdye in pink, with the Directions haircolour but still use the no poo method for the hair. I have heard that semi-permanent color are more okay for no-pooers than permanent.
About the makeup there are of course mineral alternatives, and as removal I have heard that honey is great! But I understand that it feels confusing for you.
I'm glad I got you interested in this. :D
As I'm trying to clean out the cupboards these days (haha), I found some almond oil I'd completely forgotten about. My daughter suffers from extremely dry skin in the winter and the corners of her mouth crack (ouch). I think I will donate the bottle to her!
ReplyDeleteYour no-poo posts are inspiring - I think I need to start looking into making some skin care products myself - so much cheaper and waaaay better for you! :o)
Yes she should really try that then, I use the almond oil on my lips as well :D
DeleteThank you, I'm so happy to hear that! Certainly, the body feels much better by using natural products.
You should try the Greek ioghurt mask.
ReplyDeleteIt is totally amazing to make the skin softer. For a better skin I also use a natural soap which main ingredient comes from shea tree. It is really good.
May I ask where do you get the almond oil?
Thank you for the tip! is it this recipe? http://www.acne.org/messageboard/blog/6473/entry-24399-diy-greek-yogurt-mask/
DeleteI bought it at the drugstore/pharmacy! :D
DeleteI have heard nothing but good things about using almond oil on the skin but I can't try it because I'm fatally allergic to all nuts ):
ReplyDeleteAww typically, avocado oil is a good one too though, maybe you can try that? :D
