Thanksgiving

Yesterday I celebrated my first Thanksgiving :D me and my sister decided that this year we wanted to have a traditional thanksgiving, with the food and all even though this is not something that is celebrated in sweden. So I invited my closest friend and her mum and we made it like a potluck party so everyone brought a dish.

We had all the essentials, a turkey, mashed potatoes, creamed onions, cornbread, cranberry sauce, sweet potato gratin. This was the first time I cooked a turkey, so I'm very happy how it turned out. As dessert we had pecan pie.

It was such a great night, we hope to make this a tradition and next maybe we can find more friends who want to join :D

So now I'm curious, do you celebrate Thanksgiving and what sort of food do you eat?
I googled and found the most common recipes, so that's what we made, but maybe you have different dishes!

  2. Here in Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October. We make pretty much the same as you did during your supper

  3. That sounds great! We don't have it at all in Australia, although maybe I will do something with friends in the future, sounds like a fun idea!

  4. Låter supergott! Vem gjorde kalkonen?

  6. In Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in mid-October which is nice having it right before Hallowe'en. We have turkey, cranberries, gravy, mashed white potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes with butter and brown sugar, Brussels sprouts (which nobody likes except me!) and a jellied salad that my mother used to make for every special occasion. For dessert it's pumpkin pie. I can send you the jellied salad recipe - it's more like a dessert than a salad! LOL
